Roofing & Siding Transformation in Gahanna

This two-story Gahanna home went from white siding and an older dark roof to dark blue-charcoal siding, white trim and a new roof. The roof and siding were planned as one project, and you can see it in how the finished exterior holds together.

Project Overview

A Roof and Siding Project Planned Together

Plenty of homeowners replace the roof one year and the siding a few years later. Sometimes that's the right call for the budget. But when both are due, doing them together means choosing colors, trim and roofline details at the same time, with the whole house in mind.

That was the approach here. Roof, siding and trim were treated as one exterior instead of three separate decisions, so the roofline, walls and trim work with each other.

It also makes the work cleaner. Where the roof meets the walls, along sidewalls, around the garage and between roof sections, the roofing and siding details have to come together. With one contractor handling both, those transitions are planned ahead instead of worked around later.

Original Condition

The Exterior Before Work Began

Before the project, the house had mostly white siding, an older dark roof and a traditional look. The aerial photo shows the full roof layout over the house and attached garage, and the close-up shows the older shingles that were replaced.

Before & After

Both main elevations, before and after the roofing and siding work. The darker siding and new roof change the house from every side, not just from the street.

What Changed

How the Darker Exterior Changed the Home

With white siding, the house had a soft, traditional look, and the older roof was the darkest thing on it. Now the siding carries most of the color, the white trim outlines the house, and the new roof finishes off the top.

The Roofline

A new roof gives the house a clean, even top edge. Against the darker siding, the roofline no longer competes with the walls. It frames them.

Siding and Trim

The dark blue-charcoal siding paired with white trim gives the house real contrast. Windows, corners and fascia stand out clearly instead of fading into the walls.

Front and Rear Elevations

The same treatment runs around the whole house, so the back looks as finished as the front. That's where planning roof and siding together pays off.

Completed Views From the Ground and Air

The aerial view shows what's hard to see from the yard: the full roof across the house and garage, and how the new roofline sits over the dark siding on every side.

From the ground or from above, it reads as one finished exterior.

Services Used Together

Roofing, Siding and the Details Between

If your roof and siding are both getting older, it's worth pricing them together. You get one plan, one schedule and one team responsible for how the two meet. While you're at it, look at the gutters too. They sit right where the roof and walls come together.
