Ohio Heart Group Roof Replacement
614 Exteriors replaced the roof on this Ohio Heart Group building in Central Ohio. It's a low-profile brick building with multiple roof slopes and several penetrations. We documented the project from the ground, up close on the roof and from the air.
Ohio Heart Group Roofing Project Overview
A building like this has a lot of roof for its height. The walls are low, so much of what people see when they pull into the lot is shingles. The roof is broken into several slopes that meet at hips, valleys and transitions, and a number of penetrations come through it. Each one has to be sealed and flashed correctly.
A roof replacement is more than the shingles you see from the ground. What matters just as much is what's under them, how the roof handles water where slopes meet, and how every penetration is detailed. That's why we documented this project in stages instead of just taking a finished photo.
An occupied office building also means thinking about the people coming and going: keeping walkways clear and the site organized while the roof is open.
What the Project Photos Cover
- Condition of the existing shingles
- Close-ups of damaged roofing areas
- Roof decking once the old roof came off
- Roof penetrations across the slopes
- The finished roof from the ground
- Aerial views of the completed roof
A Closer Look at the Existing Roof
From the parking lot, a roof can look acceptable long after it's stopped doing its job. Up close, the story is different. Our photos of the existing roof show shingles that were damaged and no longer lying the way they should.
Documenting this before work starts gives the property owner a clear record of what the roof looked like and why it was being replaced. It also tells the crew where to pay closer attention once the old material comes off.
What Was Visible Once the Roof Was Open
Shingles are only the surface. Under them is the decking, the boards or panels everything else is fastened to. You can't judge decking from the ground, and usually you can't judge it fully until the old roof is off.
On this project, photos taken during tear-off show decking damage that needed attention. New shingles over compromised decking can't hold fasteners the way they're supposed to, and problems in the deck tend to show up later as soft spots or leaks.
Taking care of the deck first is part of what makes a roof replacement worth doing.
Before & After the Roof Replacement
The building as it stood before work began, and the completed roof from the air. The aerial view shows how many slopes, intersections and penetrations a roof like this has to handle.
Finished Roof From Above
On the left, damaged shingles from the original roof. On the right, the completed roof from directly overhead: even shingle lines across every slope and penetrations sitting cleanly in the field of the roof.
Around the Finished Building
From the rear, the new roof reads clean and consistent across every slope. We handle residential and commercial roofing throughout Greater Columbus and Central Ohio, and you can explore the roofing materials we install.
